Our Vision and Mission
Samburu Girls Rescue was founded in 2002 by the sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri. It emerged from a deep commitment to protect and support young girls in Samburu County, who were facing harmful cultural practices such as forced marriages and female genital mutilation. In the early days, the rescue center provided a safe haven and education for a few girls, laying the foundation for the remarkable organization it has become today.
The motivation to start Mary Immaculate Rescue Centre, Samburu, came from witnessing the immense challenges faced by girls in Samburu County. Determined to make a difference, the sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri established the rescue center to provide refuge and education to those in need. They firmly believed that education and empowerment could break the cycle of harmful cultural practices, enabling girls to achieve their full potential and become leaders in their communities.
